The word “biòca” comes from the Piemonteis language and is used to describe a decisive person often with a “tough head”, just like the winery, with all their ambitions, make their best to express the excellence of the land through the wines they make.

La Biòca is a small winery in the Langhe zone. Their vineyards are situated in the villages of Monforte d’Alba (Bussia, San Sebastiano subzones), Novello (Ravera), La Morra (Castagni & Croera) and Barbaresco (Secondine, Ronchi).

Apart from the larger production facility, the 2 spacious warehouses and the underground cellar, the  winery has a large tasting room with an enormous terrace and an “agriturismo” with 7 comfortable rooms.

Their wines include the traditional wines of the Langhe area like the Dolcetto, Barbera, Nebbiolo, Freisa, Favorita, Barolo & Barbaresco, represented by different crus. The new plantings are predominantly Nebbiolo (2 different clones – Michet & Picotener), a new Dolcetto vineyard and 4 small vineyards with Rossese bianco, 2 clones of Chardonnay at Bussia and San Sebastiano (Monforte) and Pelaverga at Castagni (La Morra) on the very border with Verduno.

Wines

Ricciante

Delicate on the nose with red fruits, peaches and apple notes. The vague tannins tighten the structure and underline the dark mineral finish.

Nebbiolo d'alba sterma

Only the best lots produced by this vineyard are bottled under the label “Stërmà”, just to better show the individual character of this Nebbiolo.

Barolo ravera

This wine has been aged in tonneaux and barrels after one or two wines. The lots have been blended in June 2016 and the wine has been bottled one month later.
